Hair Loss Information |
Hair loss is a natural part of life for both men and women. All hairs shed at some point in life. At any given time, approximately 90 percent of a person’s hair is growing, while the remaining 10 percent is resting. Hair sheds at the end of the resting phase and is replaced a short time later. However, significant hair loss can happen for many reasons, including genetics, disease, medication, and cancer treatments.

Individuals suffering from baldness have many available surgical and non-surgical options to restore a healthy head of hair. Individuals can opt for surgical hair transplants, scalp reduction, or scalp expansion surgery for treatment, or use products such as Rogaine® (minoxidil) and Propecia® (finasteride), all of which help to treat hair loss. |
Surgical hair transplants provide an excellent and effective choice for permanent hair restoration for men over age 40. The procedure involves using microsurgical techniques to remove small portions of hair-bearing scalp called micrografts and transplanting them to balding areas. The result is a uniform and natural looking head of hair. |
For men who do not wish to undergo surgery for hair restoration, two FDA-approved non-surgical treatments are available: Rogaine® (topical) and Propecia® (oral). Both products are effective at slowing the rate of hair loss, and can even help to re-grow hair. The result is a reduced appearance of baldness in men. |
